The results of the MindPlay Reading Studio assessment components can be used to target students’ reading materials at an appropriate level of complexity and to serve as a tool for measuring reading growth.
The Lexile Framework for Reading is different from any other reading score because it can be used to engage students in reading materials that help accelerate their skills.
This score is used to ensure students access their reading comprehension “sweet spot” of 100L below to 100L above their reported Lexile measure. Reading materials in this range provide an appropriate level of challenge while maintaining comprehension.

After assessing a reader's abilities, it becomes feasible to predict their probable comprehension of numerous books and articles assessed using the Lexile metric.
Personalize Reading
For students using Personalized Library, reading ability is continuously monitored through online “Power” texts. Power texts are suggested books from the extensive digital library within the Personalized Library that are within 100L of the student’s reading ability. In these books, students complete in-text embedded assessments as they read. The in-text embedded assessments consist of up to two cloze items presented on a page of text. Typically, every two to three pages in the book include cloze items.
Progress Monitoring
The Lexile Framework for Reading provides teachers and educators with tools to help them link assessment results with subsequent instruction. Personalized Library assessments that are linked to the Lexile scale provide tools for monitoring the progress of students at any time during the course of instruction.
